Links and information on masters swimming in Orlando and Central Florida

Please find a map of area pools and pools with coached practices here. Additionally, the Florida LMSC has a list of pools with masters teams.

YMCA Aquatic Center on International Drive:

  • Practice times: MWF 12-1.30p(coached; TR uncoached), M-R 6-7.30p(coached; F uncoached) , Sa 10a-12p (uncoached) (full schedule)
  • If you are visiting from out of town and a YMCA member (anywhere), present your YMCA card and you are allowed 3 free visits every 30days (starting from first visit). It is $5 each visit(day) thereafter.
  • If you are visiting from out of town but not a YMCA member (anywhere), admission is $10/day, or $5/day with USMS card. (this policy has been repealed)
  • NOTE: You pay per day. So if you go on, say, a Wednesday, your $5 (with USMS card) covers you for both noon and evening practice!
  • Websites: YMCA Central Florida site, YMCA Aquatic Center site

If you live locally and wish to join the masters swim team here, the cost is YMCA membership (to gain access to the pool) plus annual United States Masters Swimming (usms.org) registration (registers you with the team for competition, as well as insurance for practice).

The following may also offer masters practices. Please check with individual locations for registration/sign-up requirements.

If you have further questions about TeamOrlando Masters membership, please contact Cathy Shonkwiler via email.

For questions about facility memberships, please contact that facility.

Re: Central Florida Masters team/practice/membership info...
According to front desk $the 5 discount for USMS cardholders is no longer honored at the YMCA Aquatic Center on International Drive. I showed them a printout of the above and they let me in once at the lower price but said it'd be $10 thereafter. Does anyone know of anywhere I can practice for less than $10 per visit? Thank you.

Thanks! We just learned about this change, too. Not sure why it happened. It may be cheaper at some of the city pools, but I'm not sure of proximity to I-Drive; and I hesitate to recommend the 33yd lap pools at the Swan and Dolphin hotels in Disney as I'm not sure their visitor policy. I'll look into the city pools.

Thank you again for relaying the update on the policy; I do apologize for the difficulty you encountered and hope you will swim with us again.

Visitor wants to find places to swim in daytona area
Hi,

Can you please help me where I can swim in Daytona Area. I am a Maryland Masters Swimmer however I do not have a YMCA membership. Thanks so much! I have been trying to contact Steve Locht but to no avail. I am willing to pay some $$ per practice and do not need a coach, just a pool I can swim in. Any ideas??

Thanks!

Re: Visitor wants to find places to swim in daytona area
Welcome to Florida!

I found some links for Daytona pools:
LMSC club map:
http://www.floridalmsc.org/clubmap.htm

Daytona Beach Swimming Team (incl masters)
http://www.daytonabeachswimming.org/

Looks like they have masters practices in Port Orange and Ormond Beach ; additional age group practices in Deland, Palm Coast and Deltona. Email addresses are on their contact page; can't see any mention of location of the pools (other than the Stetson pool in Deltona). Ah, wait, on the LMSC page, seems the Ormond Beach and Port Orange locations are YMCAs. The contact listed is Jean Sterling (sterlij _@_ attglobal _ net).

Ormond Beach YMCA
51 N. Center Street
Daytona Beach, FL

Port Orange YMCA
4701 City Center Parkway
Daytona Beach, FL

Good luck!
